HPMC(Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose)- Introduction
HPMC is a non-ionic cellulose mixed produced by the modification of natural cellulose. It presents as a white or off-white odorless powder, soluble in cold water to form a transparent and uniform colloid while insoluble in organic solvents such as ethanol. It integrates six core functions: thickening, water retention, film-forming, bonding, suspension and stabilization, and also features thermoreversible gelation (45-90℃), wide pH stability (3-13), salt and electrolyte resistance, excellent compatibility, eco-friendliness and non-toxicity. As a high-performance functional additive widely used in the industrial field, it is applied in construction materials, pharmaceuticals, food, pesticides, coatings, daily chemicals, PVC polymerization and other industries.
1. High water retention:

1. Construction Materials (Largest Consumption):
High-viscosity grades act as water retention agents, thickeners and bonding agents in putty powder, mortar and tile adhesive, extending construction time, preventing cracking, and improving bonding strength and constructability.
2. Pharmaceuticals:
Low-viscosity grades are used as tablet coating materials, sustained-release matrices and capsule shell materials to realize drug controlled release, and enhance the stability and disintegration of preparations.
3. Food (INS/E464):
Served as a thickener, emulsifier and stabilizer in baking, dairy products and sauces, it delays food aging, prevents ice crystal formation and improves taste.
