Ammonium carboxymethylcellulose (CMC-NH₄) is a cellulose-based material synthesized by subjecting natural cellulose to a series of chemical derivatization reactions. The material appears as an odorless and tasteless white fine powder with favorable biocompatibility, and it can dissolve entirely in cold water to form transparent solutions with high viscosity.
This material has abundant functional properties such as thickening, adhesion, dispersion, emulsification, film formation, suspension stabilization, adsorption, gelation and surface modification effects. Widely adopted as an important raw material, it is applied in the preparation of honeycomb ceramics, lithium batteries, supercapacitors and electronic packaging materials, which can effectively increase the qualified rate of final products.
As a dedicated binding agent, CMC-NH₄ acts as a key raw material for the production of high-performance SCR denitrification catalysts. Traditional sodium carboxymethylcellulose contains alkali metal impurities that bring adverse effects to SCR catalysts. These alkali metals may damage the catalyst framework and destroy catalytic active sites, further inducing catalyst deactivation. Replacing common sodium CMC with CMC-NH₄ can effectively avoid such deactivation behaviors. Catalysts fabricated using this ammonium cellulose material possess superior catalytic efficiency and longer service life, helping manufacturers strengthen their market competitiveness. Moreover, compared with conventional CMC, CMC-NH₄ has two obvious advantages: it provides stronger bonding performance in the molding process, and produces fewer ash residues after high-temperature calcination.
