Product Features
Ethyl cellulose is a non-toxic, thermoplastic substance produced via the etherification reaction of natural cellulose with ethyl chloride under alkaline environments. It delivers outstanding film-forming capacity, prominent water resistance, stable chemical properties, proper toughness and steady thermal performance within a certain temperature range. The film generated from ethyl cellulose features even structure, low water vapor permeability and reliable bonding force with abrasive grains and base materials. Besides being insoluble in water, it can dissolve in most conventional organic solvents, simplifying material blending, spraying and drying procedures during abrasive coating manufacture. This material is chemically inert to common abrasive materials including alumina, silicon carbide and diamond grains, and causes no corrosion to abrasive substrates throughout storage and actual application.
