Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) is a semi-synthetic polymer derived from natural cellulose via chemical modification, offering exceptional performance characteristics:
- Excellent Water Solubility: Dissolves quickly in cold water to form stable colloidal solutions with minimal impact from water temperature and pH variations
- Strong Thickening Property: Water molecules intercalate between molecular chains, causing volume expansion and entanglement that significantly increases liquid viscosity
