Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose (HPMC) is a non-ionic cellulose manufactured from refined cotton through a series of processing steps. It is widely used in self-leveling compounds, tile adhesives, cement mortars, gypsum-based products, and wall putties because of its excellent water retention, thickening ability, improved workability, and anti-segregation performance.
For self-leveling applications, specially developed low-viscosity HPMC grades offer excellent flowability while providing adequate water retention. This helps reduce bleeding, material segregation, and shrinkage cracking, contributing to a smoother and more uniform finished surface.
| Application | Recommended Grade | Main Benefits |
|---|---|---|
| Self-Leveling Compounds | E5 | Excellent flowability and anti-segregation |
| Tile Adhesives | K100M, E15 | Improved water retention and extended open time |
| Wall Putty | K100M | Smooth application and enhanced crack resistance |
| Cement Mortars | E5, E15 | Better pumpability and improved cohesion |
| Gypsum Products | E15 | Improved consistency and sag resistance |
| Water-Based Paints | E15 | Uniform film formation |
| Shampoo & Toothpaste | E5 | Suspension and thickening performance |

HPMC helps slow down rapid water loss during the hydration process, supporting more complete cement hydration and contributing to improved final mechanical strength.
Low-viscosity HPMC grades help maintain excellent fluidity while avoiding a significant increase in slurry viscosity.
The cellulose network structure helps reduce particle settlement and bleeding, resulting in a smoother and more homogeneous finished surface.
By controlling water evaporation, HPMC helps reduce plastic shrinkage and minimize the risk of crack formation.

Are you a manufacturer or a trading company?
A: We are a professional supplier with long-term partnerships with leading cellulose manufacturers in China, providing integrated sourcing and international export services.
Which HPMC grade is recommended for self-leveling compounds?
A: Low-viscosity grades such as E5 are generally recommended because of their excellent flowability and anti-segregation performance.
Can you customize the viscosity specifications?
A: Yes. Customized viscosity ranges and product specifications can be provided according to specific customer requirements.
Do you provide samples?
A: Yes. Free samples of up to 500 g are available. Freight charges are generally borne by the buyer.
What payment terms do you accept?
A: We accept T/T, L/C, D/P, and D/A. Standard payment terms are 30% T/T in advance with the balance against a copy of the B/L, or 100% L/C at sight.
What is your delivery time?
A: The normal delivery time is 7–10 working days after receipt of payment.
How do you ensure product quality?
A: Every batch is tested before shipment. COA, TDS, and sample retention records are maintained to support product traceability and ensure consistent quality.
