- As a binder and disintegrant in tablets: Its swelling coefficient after absorbing water can reach hundreds of times, significantly improving disintegration and dissolution release rates.For example, some studies have shown that replacing the original binder starch paste in ibuprofen formulations with HPMC can effectively improve the dissolution of poorly soluble s and improve tablet quality.
- HPMC can be used as a film coating material: HPMC is a widely used gastric-soluble coating material with good film-forming properties, forming films with suitable strength, transparent coating, and resistance to brittleness. The coating film is relatively stable under light, heat, and certain humidity conditions, and is soluble in organic solvents and water. It has little adverse effect on the disintegration and dissolution of tablets.
